The Power of Character Strengths

Discover the Power You Already Possess

Your life is a journey. At different points you will yearn for different things—greater happiness, more success at work, better relationships—but where are you looking for answers?

In the Power of Character Strengths, Positive Psychology experts, Drs. Ryan Niemiec and Robert McGrath, encourage you to look within. In this researched-based reference guide you will discover why your character strengths, the positive aspects of your personality, are your best-kept secrets for boosting your well-being.

Why are character strengths considered “untapped power”? Research shows that if you have an active awareness of your strengths, you are 9x more likely to be flourishing. But, if you’re like most people, you’re going to work, interacting with your family and tackling your “to-do” list without fully harnessing the strengths that can help you thrive. This book is designed to show you how to fulfill your life goals by exploring and cultivating the character strengths that already reside in you.

It is an inspiring resource that guides you through every peak and valley of your journey.

Includes a bonus! StrengthsBuilder, a research-backed 4-step program to help you make the most of your unique strengths combination.

Excerpt from The Power of Character Strengths

You are a person of character. In fact, each of us is. Each of us has in us, to varying degrees, certain traits that are admired and respected by others. These traits are called “character strengths.” For you, some may have already fully flowered, and you are expressing them strongly in your life; some of these strengths may be dormant, waiting for you to refocus your attention on them; and some may have never gotten any deliberate attention from you over the years. Wherever you stand on each of the traits of character, they are already there in you. This is a book for people who want to learn more about character in general, and their character in particular, with the goal of making their lives better…Character is the part of your personality that other people tend to admire, respect, and cherish. It is the sum total of those aspects of who you are as a person that leads others to see you as a person with integrity, a person who contributes, a person who can be trusted. Modern research sponsored by the VIA Institute on Character has discovered that there are 24 central character strengths in human beings.

"Character is the part of your personality that people tend to admire, respect and cherish."
