Dr. Robert McGrath

Dr. Robert McGrath, Senior Scientist, received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Auburn University and is currently a Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in the Marion Turpan College of Psychology and Counseling. He is also the Director of the university’s Center for Character Development. He has published more than 50 articles on the nature, measurement, and development of character.

He and his colleagues have authored more than 50 publications and presentations on various topics in character, including co-author of the book The Power of Character Strengths: Appreciate and Ignite Your Positive Personality and author of the book Bringing Fire: How Innovation Helps Us Change and Makes Us Fight. Dr. McGrath is also the senior author on both the VIA Survey and VIA-Youth now found on the VIA website.
